What's New in CIS?

  • ScienceCinema
    ScienceCinema uses innovative audio indexing and speech recognition technology to help locate videos produced by the U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories and research facilities, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Users can search for specific words and phrases, and precise video segments where the search term was spoken will appear along with a timeline. Users can select and play the video segments. Currently, there are current over 3,000 speech-indexed videos in the collection. (April 18, 2014)
  • Computer Desktop Encyclopedia (CDE)
    CDE has been around and evolving since 1978. This online version contains over 25,000 technical terms and phrases, 3,000 images, and 40,000 cross references, It covers all aspects of computing, from chips to supercomputers and from command examples to mini-tutorials. It's free and there's no advertising. (March 5, 2014)
  • Free Online Resources for Microsoft .NET Developers
    Aimed at beginners, this site contains resources for learning programming concepts in the Microsoft .NET Framework. Included are tutorials and lessons covering VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, Ajax, and the .NET Framework. There are worked examples with source code and FAQs. (July 8, 2013)
